The PWWPCD wants to make residents aware of a critical infrastructure issue affecting our waterfront.
The seawall located along Sunset Park (district owned property) is in urgent need of repair. This structure plays an important role in protecting the shoreline and surrounding public assets. We’ve attached a document outlining the current condition and the specific concerns so residents can better understand the situation.
To address this, we have formally requested funding assistance from Congressman Tom Suozzi and asked that this project be included in next year’s federal appropriations bill. Our goal is to secure the necessary repairs while minimizing the financial impact on local taxpayers.
The project is especially important given the broader investment happening around it. On one side, the Town Dock is receiving significant funding for improvements, and on the other, Baxter Estates’ Bay Walk is also slated for major upgrades. Ensuring the seawall is repaired is essential to protect and complement these investments and maintain the integrity of our shared waterfront.
We remain committed to advocating for responsible solutions that project our community while being mindful of costs. Please take a moment to review the attached document for more details.
